We are looking to recruit a Maitre Sommelier to oversee the dining room and organize the wine cellar of our Italian gourmet restaurant in Tirana. Maitre Sommelier will operate beside the Restaurant Manager to ensure quality of service and efficient wine cellar management. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to lead a team, a wide knowledge and a strong passion for food & beverage products. We’ll expect you to maintain a constant floor presence, coordinate the dining room, lead by example and motivate personnel to deliver a memorable experience to customers. Maitre Sommelier is also responsible for wine suggestion and serving, wine list development and wine cellar management. Italian and English proficiency required.
•Organizing and coordinating the dining room to achieve the highest service standards;
•Demonstrating full knowledge of all menus, suggesting food and wine pairing;
•Taking orders and coordinating operations and communication between kitchen and dining room;
•Exhibiting proper technique and handling of wine pours, openings, and storage on the floor;
•Beginning each shift prepared, sharp and in uniform;
•Leading pre-service meetings and applicable closing duties;
•Being responsible for back of the house tasks: cellar stock, cellar organization, station prep;
•Keeping track of low and top selling labels, working with Restaurant Manager;
•Developing wine list, suggesting new labels, food and wine glass pairings;
•Participating in the execution of service/wine/culinary education training sessions.
•Preferred applicant will have 3-5 years of fine dining or banquet service with supervisory experience;
•1-2 years floor sommelier experience;
•Strong knowledge and interest in wine & food;
•Demonstrating a passion for hospitality and attention to details;
•Positive attitude and commitment to excellence;
•Motivation to provide superb customer service, pride in achieving guest satisfaction and a natural inclination to make people happy;
•Team leadership skills, including coaching and teaching abilities;
•Self starter, flexible, and able to work independently;
•Excellent organizational skills;
•Ability to remember and recall ingredients and dishes to inform customers and wait staff;
•Must possess excellent verbal and written skills;
•Post-secondary Degree/Diploma in Hospitality Management, Food and Beverage Management and/or equivalent is preferred;
•Knowledge about Italian gastronomy is a plus;
•English and Italian proficiency required.
